Computer-aided design is the use of <strong>computer programs<\/strong> to create, modify and analyse three-dimensional (also two-dimensional) graphical representations of physical objects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li itemprop=\"itemListElement\"><span><strong>STL Format<\/strong><\/span><span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span>Once this model is created, it is transformed into .STL format (or .AMF and .3MF, more recent formats). What is .STL format? It is a <strong>triangulated representation<\/strong> in a 3D CAD model.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mizaradditive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/conversion-de-formatos-300x169.jpg\" width=\"582\" height=\"328\" alt=\"conversi\u00f3n de formatos\" class=\"wp-image-8881 alignnone size-medium\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mizaradditive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/conversion-de-formatos-300x169.jpg 582w, https:\/\/mizaradditive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/conversion-de-formatos-480x270.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 582px, 100vw\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li itemprop=\"itemListElement\"><span><strong>The construction process<\/strong><\/span><span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span>The three-dimensional model is <strong>divided into layers<\/strong> (<em>slicing<\/em>). Previously, it will be necessary to <strong>define the orientation<\/strong> of the machine or construction and to determine whether there will be <strong>supporting structures<\/strong> (which may be necessary for deposition of layers in near-horizontal orientations).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> To continue, the <strong>production sequence<\/strong> is detailed. These actions are also carried out with specific software that is often determined by each printer and technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The next step is called <strong><em>nesting<\/em><\/strong>: the manufacturing chamber or platform must be prepared for grouping or stacking the parts to be manufactured at the same time. Likewise, the <strong>control specimens<\/strong> will be prepared and manufactured at the same time as the parts in order to validate the result of the manufacturing process, once it has been carried out. <\/span><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li itemprop=\"itemListElement\"><span><strong>The raw material<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span>After <strong>receipt of the material<\/strong> and verification (if necessary) of the certificates attesting to the <strong>key characteristics<\/strong> (characteristics defined in the applicable standard or in the technical specification of the purchase), the raw material <strong>shall be loaded<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li itemprop=\"itemListElement\"><span><strong>Preparing the printer<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span>One of the essential steps in the preparation of the machine will be the <strong>cleaning<\/strong> of residues from previous productions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span>Each technology will require, at this stage, different <strong>setup, calibration and configuration<\/strong> processes from the printer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> <a href=\"https:\/\/mizaradditive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/fabricacion-paso-paso-img2.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/mizaradditive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/fabricacion-paso-paso-img2.webp\" alt=\"manufacturing-step-step-img2\" class=\"wp-image-8853 alignnone size-full\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mizaradditive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/fabricacion-paso-paso-img2.webp 225w, https:\/\/mizaradditive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/fabricacion-paso-paso-img2-150x150.webp 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li itemprop=\"itemListElement\"><span><strong>Manufacturing<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span>In the actual manufacturing phase, the machine will execute the <strong>commands<\/strong> to <strong>build<\/strong> the slice defined in the previous phase, <strong>layer by layer<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This phase will require <strong>control and monitoring<\/strong>: of parameters, control data logging and sensing and printing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The steps to be followed in this <strong>phase<\/strong> will of course be <strong>determined<\/strong> by the selected <strong>technology<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li itemprop=\"itemListElement\"><span><strong>Inspection, verification and testing<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span><strong>Dimensional verification<\/strong> is particularly important at this stage of the process and can be carried out manually or by more sophisticated processes such as 3D scanners or CMM.
